Just saw wild fire again in US and again out of control, Why? Cannot believe such an advanced country, no way?

~~There are many forces at work here in So Cal. One is the fires are always out of control because of the Santa Ana Winds. Right at this moment they are blowing at 50 miles an hour, where I live. This along with the fire's own wind power makes it, an imposible to control situation. It is like trying to put a fire out in a tornado. Sparks fly out of control and start another fire and on it goes. Then you have our terrain. These fires are always in canyons and hills which sometimes along with the winds make it impossible for planes to fly safely, which limits their help. Then you have development, in very rural areas for which a fire resistant home is not mandatory, therefore you have exorbanent loss of lives, or material possessions. As for our landscape, we have had a severe drought for quite a few years, so the hillsides are just dry fuel at this time time of the year. Every city tries to cut back brush, have fire breaks, all the preventative, but it is just impossible to cover thousands of acres. So, every fall, the winds appear and either by the hand of nature or arson, here come the fires. The best solution would be to stop allowing homes to be built in these areas, but wealthy people love their canyons and life in nature, so we all pay dearly for them to have this capability. Nature has it's own way of evolving from these disasters, but it's development which gets in the way. So we will go on every fall with major fires, loss of lives and property, etc.~~
